Year 6 Plant Studies
Our current Science topic is Interdependence and Adaptation. We have been looking at parts of a plant and their functions and also life cycles of plants and humans.
Year 6 Pencil and Paint techniques
In Year 6 we’ve been discovering the world of perspective and layered landscapes. In preparation for our final piece, of a layered landscape, we have experimented with pencil and paint techniques. We have also looked at vanishing points and how these help to create perspective in our artwork.
Year 6 Street Child
In Literacy we have been doing some work to do with the book we’re reading ‘Street Child’ which has to do with the Topic work we have been doing: The Victorians. We have also been making Mind Maps and trying to empathise with people in real life and the characters from the book to find out what it felt like to be in a workhouse. As well as all that in Literacy we have been creating freeze frames and thought bubbles about the main character in ‘Street Child’ which is ‘Jim’ so we know what it feels like to be in that position
In Topic we have been making Timelines to do with Queen Victoria and her reign so we can remember when we are finished all the important and interesting facts of her life. As well as doing timelines in our books Mrs. Quine has shown us a site called ‘timetoast.com’ where you can create your own timeline in which many children have taken an interest in and created their own times in the timeline.

Year 6 Andy Warhol
During Art Day, in May 2010, Year 6 studied the work of Andy Warhol. They recreated these works of art in his style.
Year 6 The Highwayman
In Year 6 we have studied The Highwayman, by Alfred Noyes. The children rewrote the poem as a story from the point of view of one of the main characters. Here is a small sample of their work.
